A diesel hydraulic grab is a bucket grab, which does not require power for hydraulic system’s operation. The principle of diesel hydraulic grab’s work is based on the installation of a diesel engine directly above the buckets. Thereby, the charging buckets and the motor form a unit, which is attached to the crane hook. Diesel engine produces electric power needed to operate a hydraulic pump or, in other words, to force hydraulic cylinders to open and close the buckets. So, no supply lines are necessary for its operation. Crane operator can open and close the buckets by a radio control command. The diesel hydraulic grab is used in areas, where only loading cranes and other crane systems with a crane hook, designed only for loads’ lifting or lowering, are applicable. For example, one can manage bulk or recycled materials using an independently operating diesel hydraulic grab only. The following grabs are manufactured by Orts-GmbH located in in Schleswig-Holstein’s Sereetz. This company develops and manufactures such devices as rope grabs and load beams.
